Ghajini is a 2008 Bollywood film directed by A. R. Murugadoss and produced under the Geetha Arts banner by Allu Aravind. The film was a remake of its Tamil film, Ghajini (2005), which was also by Muragadoss and starred Surya Sivakumar and Asin. It stars Aamir Khan and bollywood débutant Asin Thottumkal. Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat and Riyaz Khan are essaying supporting roles.

The film is a romantic action thriller that explores the life of a rich businessman who suffers from anterograde amnesia following a violent encounter. With the aid of Polaroid Instant camera images and permanent tattoos on his torso, the businessman tries to avenge the murder of his vivacious model girlfriend, Kalpana, who was killed shortly before he was also attacked leading to his diagnosis of amnesia.The character of Aamir Khan will also feature in a 3-D game titled Ghajini:the game,which is based on the same movie.

Indias highest box office earner Bollywood film so far ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)’ of Shah Rukh Khan has lost to Aamir khans latest film Ghajini as biggest hit at the box office. Ghajini has broken the record established by DDLJ 13 years ago when it comes to the box office collection.Ghajini has grossed Rs.1.62 billion in Indian markets which is the highest and Rs.390 million have come from overseas markets till end of second week. The film is still running to packed houses and may cross many more milestones.

‘Ghajini’, which is a romantic action thriller that covers the lifestyle of a rich business tycoon who suffers from short-term memory loss following a violent strike on his head, has earned Rs.2 billion ($41 million) in less than two weeks of its release.
